Questions to ask

Tick them off as you go. The best people to ask are the campus minister, a theology teacher and current students.

Worship and chapel (ask a student or the chaplain)

  • How often is chapel, and is it required? How many credits or services each term?
  • What is chapel like: worship style, speakers, how many students come?
  • Are there student-led worship nights or prayer groups?
  • Who are the campus pastors, and how do students get to know them?

Bible and theology (ask a professor or admissions)

  • Which Bible and theology courses must every student take, whatever the major?
  • How do professors bring faith into courses in my major?
  • Do faculty sign the statement of faith?

Christian community (ask students)

  • Where do students gather for Bible study or small groups? Which groups are most active?
  • How many retreats or spiritual emphasis weeks are there each year?
  • Is there a community covenant, and what does it ask of students?
  • How do students find a local church?

Missions and service (ask the service or missions office)

  • What share of students take part in service or missions trips?
  • Are service hours part of any required course?
  • Which local churches and ministries do students serve with?
